What are some great cheap metal guitars?
Can you give me the names of guitars that are specialized in metal and have crisp distortion? And preferably EMG pickups or Seymour Duncan. My price limit is $300. I know, that is pretty low for a price limit, but there has to be guitars that are good that cost under $300. Please help me out. Thanks.
There are no guitars below the 600$ price point that come with EMG active pickups as far as I am aware…. it’s a pretty safe assumption that most stock pickups are going to suck – so start budgeting for replacement pickups now.
That’s actually my strategy for buying a guitar – I include the cost of replacement pickups, new strings, and a professional setup into my budget right from the start.
Anyways, well, I own two LTD’s that I think the world of… the first link is one of them, the second is the other one. They’re both basically the same thing, different finish. The guitar is pretty decent as is, but once they’ve been upgraded they both play and sound gorgeously.

There are many different things you can do to upgrade them, many different directions, but I suggest Rockfield pickups as one option for you – they’re a little cheaper than Seymour Duncans or DiMarzios, but the sound quality is top-notch. I might suggest the one below.
Of course, you don’t have to do it right away, but the guitars do benefit greatly from it. I’ve only heard a handful of guitars whose stock pickups don’t suck (from my POV), and I haven’t heard a guitar yet that hasn’t benefited from a pickup upgrade.
Even before upgrading the pickups, consider putting an onboard preamp into your guitar. Admittedly, it’s a bit of work, but it does have its benefits in improved sound quality. A relatively simple onboard preamp could even be constructed… google "tillman preamp" if you’re interested in that.

I want to get my kids the Guitar Hero and need to know what all I have to get.?
I know it is playstation 2 so obviously would have to buy that. Does the guitar and game come together? what all comes in the "bundle"? Any guidance on this would be appreciated!
the game actuallly is also for Xbox 360,PS3,and Wii as well so if your kid has one of those you could just buy the game for that, the game is sold as a bundle or the game by itself. the bundle comes with the guitar and the game.

how much do guitar stores mark up for guitar amps approximately?
im just wondering, how much do guitar stores buy electric guitar amps for from the manufacturers?
It really depends on the manufacturer, but usually 25-40% has been my experience (I’ve done repairs at a couple of music stores in the past, and that’s what I’ve seen).
For the most part, they have some room to deal. However, there are certain brands they can’t move off of the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. Mesa Boogie is the most famous for this. You will pay the same for a Mesa amp no matter where you buy it (of course, I mean a new amp). Discounting a Mesa amp is grounds for them to pull their dealership from that chain. Remember MARS Music several years ago? That was one thing that contributed to their downfall…Mesa caught them putting their amps on sale.

What should I play on my electric guitar to impress 8 year old kids?
I’m playing at a little workshop at a school today and I’ll be playing in front of 8/9 year old kids. But I don’t want to bore em out so does anyone have any ideas for what sorta stuff I should play? Also, its a 10 minute session.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, would be a nice idea. YOU ARE IN A BIG PILE OF TROUBLE! How did you get yourself into this? Just talk to them about the boring guitar parts, say some things about music theory and then play the song. It will get them sleeping in no time! And then their teachers will be thankful to you, forever!

Buying Vintage Guitars Online Has Benefits
If you’ve noticed the increasing popularity and value of vintage guitars, you might want to consider buying online. The online marketplace offers a wealth of amazing guitars, often at fantastic prices. Here are a few of the benefits of buying a vintage guitar online, as well as some tips to help you get a good one. Benefits of Buying Vintage Guitars Online
1. Convenience – If you want to get an excellent price on a vintage guitar offline, you may have to spend a lot of time looking. Antique shops, garage sales, private classified ads and guitar shows all might have the guitar you’ve been dreaming of. However, you have to go there to find out. With online shopping, you’ll be able to see in a moment if the guitar for sale is the one you want, and listings are easy to find.
2. Price – Online sellers don’t have as much overhead, so they can often offer some great deals. In addition to this, you also have the chance of finding someone who doesn’t know what a treasure they have. Ebay sellers may offer great vintage guitars at a much lower price than you’d find them offline. Just be sure to factor in all handling charges and shipping costs when you figure out your vintage guitar budget.
3. Market Size – The Internet exposes you to more guitar listings than you’d ever see without it. That allows sellers and buyers to find one another, and lets you discover your perfect vintage guitar. No local market can rival the selection you can find online, even in large cities. Of course, in many cases, online purchases are sight unseen, until the guitar arrives. Does that mean you should avoid online buying? Not at all – it just means that there are a few steps to take and things to ask about before you make your purchase.
Try to find out what kind of condition the guitar is in. Whether you’re buying it as an investment, or because you’d like to play a great old guitar, good condition is important. Remember that refinishing or repairs, except in special cases, can damage the value and playability of the guitar.
If you’re not sure about the condition of a guitar you see online, ask the seller for photos and details about the instrument. Pay close attention to the straightness of the neck, bridge angle, and the amount of wear on the guitar. Some wear will be normal on all older guitars, but it’s the type that matters. Avoid a guitar with cracks, warping, or large scratches.
Look for sellers who are accountable in some way. eBay is an excellent place to buy, since you can report sellers who don’t represent themselves properly. Both eBay and Paypal have buyer protection plans to protect you should you receive a guitar that was not accurately described. However, it’s also a good idea to make sure you feel right about the deal. If it seems too good to be true, it might well be!
A little bit of caution is all you need to start reaping the benefits of buying a vintage guitar online, instead of using classifieds and antique stores. Pay close attention to what you’re buying and get as much information as possible. You’ve got a great chance of getting a better deal via the Internet, and you’ll see a lot more guitars, plus you’ll be able to buy them from the comfort of your own home. It doesn’t get much better than that!
A good place to begin your search for that guitar of your dreams or investment is Bob’s Vintage Guitars. You will find a large selection of vintage guitars at the best prices available anywhere. In addition there is quite a lot of information about vintage guitars, both for the musician and the collector.
