take lessons for the one you’re better at. I’m assuming that you LIKE playing both of them, but if you don’t, take lessons for the one you like playing.
personally I would take the violin lessons. I’ve played the violin for years and frankly it’s more impressive than playing the guitar because everyone and thier mother knows how to play the guiar but playing the violin is special.

I would suggest Violin. It is harder to learn on your own than guitar, which you could learn on your own. Also, Violin makes you seem more sophisticated which may help your reputation with the older crowd and if you could join a symphony or play for musicals or folk or country music.
Guitar however is more useful in the real world, as there are plenty of bands to play with and it is listened to by a wider range of audience.
I think you should think about what your goal is in learning the instruments. What do you want to do with the skills?

You have to think about what you enjoy most really ; you cant leave the decision up to anyone else but yourself. Although I do have to say a cousin of mine plays both. He used to love the electric guitar, but now he has graduated collage in music therapy ; he is amazing at the violin. =D Just something to think about.

depends on what you like. for me I’d rather be toting a violin case than a guitar and an amp.

I’ve done both.
Go for violin – more effort, even more reward.
Obviously, it’s different for everyone. Enjoy yourself, but look to the future, too.

The violin lessons will most likely give you way more bang for the buck….. Guitar techniques are not nearly as formalised as violin, and if you need to fudge it, that’s gonna fly much better on the guitar. Also, don’t worry too much about styles…If you want to rock out with a violin, you can…Just look up Jerry Goodman on youtube. I tried to post a link but I guess yahoo won’t let us do something useful like that anymore.

Violin, dude. Go for it.
And I dont know if that comment on the violin hero was meant to be smartassy, but all I know is that if I ever found out that they were making a violin hero…I`d probably piss my pants with excitement lol.
