		<description>It really depends on the manufacturer, but usually 25-40% has been my experience (I&#039;ve done repairs at a couple of music stores in the past, and that&#039;s what I&#039;ve seen).

For the most part, they have some room to deal.  However, there are certain brands they can&#039;t move off of the manufacturer&#039;s suggested retail price.  Mesa Boogie is the most famous for this.  You will pay the same for a Mesa amp no matter where you buy it (of course, I mean a new amp).  Discounting a Mesa amp is grounds for them to pull their dealership from that chain.  Remember MARS Music several years ago?  That was one thing that contributed to their downfall...Mesa caught them putting their amps on sale.
