Can Guitar Hero be enjoyed by yonger kids?

Posted in kids guitar | February 6th, 2010

I have 2 sons, 5 and 8. Will they be able to play Guitar Hero? They’re pretty tech savvy and I’m not concerened about the music choices (they love listening to my old 80’s CD’s) – I’m just wondering if the level of difficulty is aimed toward teens, or if kids could play too?

I thought about getting them that "I can play guitar" by Fisher Price, but I’m thinking the Guitar Hero would have more longevity (and mom can play too. :)

Yes. Perhaps not the 2 yr old so much but our town had a Guitar Hero competition and a 5 year old won! Played it behind his back etc. Great eye/hand coordination training.

I reckon they will enjoy it. Well, the eight year old would have more fun with it I reckon, but the five year old might get bored or might think that it is too hard to play and will probably walk away. If you want them to learn the guitar I guess this is a really good start. Don’t get them that Fisher Price guitar thing, they will say something like "Ugh! That’s for babies!" So get them Guitar Hero for them because they can easily grow into it if they don’t like it straight away. They work for PS2 and PS3.

Well I have a 3 and 6 year old and its too hard for them because of all the fast motions of the fingers. So I would say on to the next game!

yeah, i’m sure its ok for them to play it. some of it isnt that difficult, as long as they know how to press the buttons on the guitar correctly it should be fine.

Yes. The game can be set up to slow the song down, and to make you play fewer notes. Once the player gets the hang of that, they can play on a more difficult level.

Of course it could be played by kids.. All you have to be carefull about is that he/she does not play to long or they can pull a tendent in their wrist.. This happened to Detroit Tigers Joel Zumaya in the playoffs two years ago.. He was playing free bird about 3-4 times in a row then pulled a tendent..

All I am saying is that they should not be playing hard songs at first and that they should use some warm up songs then they can start to play from the beginning and then they can start to work their way up..
